Kawatiri Family Harm Prevention Network coordinates family violence prevention efforts with individuals, community volunteers, non-government organisations and statutory agencies in the Kawatiri | Westport area. The Network is housed in Homebuilders West Coast Trust, a community organisation providing social services to the children and families on the West Coast of the South Island.

Event to be held at Westport Bridge Club, 12A Lyndhurst Street.

In this 1-day training, participants will learn about the tactics employed by people perpetrating domestic violence, will gain a number of resources to better respond to challenges in the workplace with respect to family violence, and will gain skills to support the victims of Family Violence.

A large part of the day will be experiential and will consist of actual cases and responses as well as allowing opportunities to practice newly learnt skills and to dive deeper into the practical aspects of the work.

Topics covered will include Cycles of Violence, Safety Planning, affect regulation as well as practicing how to have a conversation when you suspect Family harm is occurring in the lives of your kiritaki. There will also be a large number of relevant resources that will be given to attendees on the day.
