Ministry of Social Development Releases Suite of Reports on Family Violence

The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) Campaign for Action on Family Violence have this week released four reports related to family violence in New Zealand. These reports are:Attitudes, Values and Beliefs about Violence within Families: 2008 SurveyThe objectives of the survey were to:gauge New Zealanders' definitions of family violencemeasure the awareness of family violencemeasure the attitudes in New Zealand about family violencegauge the propensity of New Zealanders to take action against family violence.Community Study Summary Report This Community Study investigated the impact of the Campaign for Action on Family Violence in four New Zealand communities - Christchurch, Porirua, Te Tairawhiti (Gisborne) and Waitakere.An Innovative Approach to Changing Social Attitudes around Family Violence in New Zealand: key ideas, insights and lessons learnt This aim of this research was to:articulate the key ideas, messages and approach of the Campaign for Action on Family Violencereview the evidence to better understand how well the Campaign is workingfocus on lessons and insights that can be used to inform the future development of the Campaign and enhance future government-led initiatives.Report on Giving, Receiving and Seeking Help This aim of this research was to understand people's willingness, confidence and capacity to give and receive help; with a focus on:what action people can take to prevent family violence and whenwhere it is hard to take action and whywhat might make it easierwhat offering help looks like.All of these reports are available in full via the MSD website at: http://www.msd.govt.nz/about-msd-and-our-work/publications-resources/research/campaign-action-violence-research/index.html
