Admissibility of Court Defendants' Previous convictions

The New Zealand Law Commission has tabled in Parliament its latest report reviewing the law as it relates to the admissibility of previous convictions, similar offending and bad behaviourThe Evidence Act 2006 is the central piece of legislation considered in the Report. The Commission makes no recommendation to amend the law at this point, but instead proposed it continue to monitor the Act’s operation and impact prior to reporting back to government by 28 February 2010.
